Pride and Prejudice2020? episodes, ITV. Production company Mammoth Screen plans to tease out the “darker tones” of Jane Austen’s classic novel in a new ITV adaptation written by Nina Raine. This will be Raine’s first TV adaptation. The dates and cast for the production and broadcast are still to be confirmed, but there is a chance the new version could air in 2020.
The Singapore Grip(?) 2019

6 episodes, ITV. The Singapore Grip by J.G. Farrell tells the story of a British family living in Singapore at the time of the Japanese invasion. It follows rubber merchant Walter Blackett, his wife Sylvia, ruthless daughter Joan and spoilt son Monty, who live a life of luxury, seemingly untouched by the troubles in Europe. However, the story takes a turn when the son of his business partner Mr Webb becomes involved with his daughter Joan before falling under the spell of Vera Chiang, a mysterious Chinese refugee. It is being adapted by Christopher Hampton, who wrote feature films including A Dangerous Method, Atonement, The Quiet American and who won an Oscar for Dangerous Liaisons. Mammoth Screen (Poldark, Victoria) produces.

Call the Midwife S920208 episodes, BBC. The drama follows a dedicated team of midwives and nuns working at a convent in London’s East End in the 1950s and ’60s. The show is based on real-life nurse Jennifer Worth’s best-selling trilogy of memoirs. IMDB

Set in New York City in 1882, the series will follow Marian Brook, the young heiress of a conservative family who is tasked with infiltrating the world of their wealthy neighbors, ruled by railroad tycoon George Russell. Complications arise amid a wide cast of characters including the rakish young Russell son Larry and matriarch Bertha, whose new money presents a social barrier to acceptance by the upper set. IMDB

A Kickstarter campaign for a movie has raised more than $643,000. Phryne Fisher will take off on “a global adventure — via romantic wayside stops in the Far East, glamorous sojourns in the mansions of London, and a battle to survive the rolling sands of the Arabian Desert,” the Kickstarter says. According to Inside Film, the movie will likely be filmed in Australia, London and either Morocco or Israel in May/June 2018.
